Pirates chase Sundowns pressure today as Ouaddou rallies his squad

Today at Orlando Stadium: Ouaddou backs Pirates to keep winning

Orlando Pirates head coach Abdeslam Ouaddou has called for calm, focus, and consistency as his in-form side prepares to host bottom-placed Chippa United at Orlando Stadium on 25 November (19:30 CAT).

After a shaky start under the new coach, Pirates have surged up the table with seven wins from their last eight league games, climbing to second place and narrowing the gap on leaders Mamelodi Sundowns to just three points with two matches in hand. They’ve also booked their place in the Carling Knockout final.

Chippa, meanwhile, remain winless under new coach Vusumuzi Vilakazi, collecting just one point in two games and sitting at the foot of the table.

Ouaddou insists his players now fully understand his philosophy:
“Step by step, the players get it. They know the expectations — score goals, stay tactically disciplined and be hard to break down,” he said. “You can see that Pirates are consistent and strong.”

Key players:
Pirates: Tshepang Moremi — eight goals in 17 games — continues to shine after his move from AmaZulu.
Chippa: Goalkeeper Stanley Nwabali will need a big performance to stabilise a defence that has conceded 19 goals.

Head-to-head (last five league meetings):
Pirates 4 wins | Chippa 0 | Draws 1

Also in midweek action:
Orbit College host Stellenbosch FC on Wednesday (26 November, 19:30), with both teams desperate for points after disappointing pre-break results.
