PSL Club Strengthen Squad With Zim Duo Benhura and Mushore
Takunda Benhura has officially played his final match for Ngezi Platinum Stars — and he bowed out in style. The rising Zimbabwean forward found the net in his farewell appearance on Saturday, a fitting curtain-call before he begins his next chapter in South Africa.
Benhura is set to join AmaZulu FC in the Betway Premiership, where he will team up with fellow Zimbabwean Thandolwenkosi Ngwenya. His strong end-of-season form even earned him a place in the Zimbabwe Premier Soccer League Matchday 24 Team of the Week, underlining why AmaZulu moved quickly to secure his signature.
This transfer comes just days after Mzansi.com Football reported on the emotional farewell of Highlanders FC midfielder Mason Mushore, who penned a heartfelt goodbye letter before sealing his own move to Durban.
AmaZulu FC Raid Zimbabwe for Mason Mushore and Takunda Benhura
AmaZulu FC have completed a major double swoop from Zimbabwe, securing the services of Mason Mushore of Highlanders FC and Takunda Benhura of Ngezi Platinum Stars. The Durban-based side has intensified its recruitment drive ahead of the 2026 season, targeting disciplined, technically gifted players from north of the Limpopo.
Both players have agreed terms with Usuthu, and their transfers will be finalised in January 2026 once registration processes are completed. Sources within AmaZulu confirm that negotiations are done, paperwork is in order, and the club views the duo as key long-term additions.
The move strengthens AmaZulu’s growing Zimbabwean contingent, which already includes Warriors forward Thandolwenkosi Ngwenya.
“AmaZulu value the professionalism and technical levels of Zimbabwean players. Both boys fit the club’s long-term project,”
— a source close to the deal told Mzansi.com Football.
If all goes through, Mushore and Benhura will join a list of Zimbabwean greats who previously wore AmaZulu colours — including Khama Billiat, Willard Katsande, and Tapuwa Kapini.
Mason Mushore’s Emotional Goodbye
We have previously reported on Mushore’s heartfelt farewell to Highlanders FC, which he shared just hours before Bosso’s final match of the season. Both Highlanders and Chicken Inn entered the last matchday tied on 38 points and battling relegation pressure, but for Mushore, the moment was about gratitude and closure.
In his emotional letter, Mushore thanked the club, the coaches and the fans for shaping his journey. He described Highlanders as his home and expressed deep appreciation for the trust and support he received at Tshilamoya.
“My time at Highlanders has shaped me as a player and a person… The memories we shared will stay with me forever,”
— Mushore wrote.

A New Zimbabwean Chapter in Durban
With Takunda Benhura heading to Mzansi after a standout PSL campaign and Mason Mushore embarking on the next phase of his career, AmaZulu FC appear to be building a strong Zimbabwean backbone.
Two young talents.
Two emotional farewells.
One ambitious South African club ready to give them a platform.
Mzansi awaits their arrival.
