Bafana Bafana have been handed a timely boost ahead of AFCON after Siyabonga Ngezana returned to action following an injury scare.
The defender raised concern when he limped off at halftime in FCSB’s goalless draw with Dinamo București, but the setback proved minor. On Thursday, Ngezana was back in the starting line-up for FCSB against Feyenoord in the Europa League and marked his return in style by scoring in the 11th minute. It was his first Europa League goal as FCSB went on to secure a 4–3 victory.
Ngezana will now join the Bafana Bafana squad as preparations intensify for AFCON. South Africa are drawn in Group B with Angola, Egypt and Zimbabwe, and face Ghana in a final warm-up match on Tuesday, 16 December, at Dobsonville Stadium.
