Kaizer Chiefs legend takes aim at Kaze and Ben Youssef

Pitso Would Struggle Here: Why Kaizer Chiefs Current Setup Is Failing

Pressure continues to build on Kaizer Chiefs’ coaching duo Cedric Kaze and Khalil Ben Youssef, with another club legend openly questioning their competence.

Former Amakhosi goalkeeper Joseph “Banks” Setlhodi has become the latest ex-player to criticise the technical setup, following Isaac Mabotsa’s recent call for the club to appoint a new head coach. Speaking to Soccer Laduma, Setlhodi said the first area he would fix at Naturena is the technical department.

“I doubt those guys know anything about football,” Setlhodi said bluntly, expressing concern over the club’s direction under the current coaching structure.

Setlhodi also weighed in on the ongoing speculation linking Pitso Mosimane with the Chiefs job, suggesting that appointing the highly-rated coach would not be straightforward. According to the former goalkeeper, Mosimane would demand better-quality players and clear conditions before accepting the role.

“Pitso knows exactly the kind of players he wants,” Setlhodi explained. “With the current squad, it would be very difficult for him to succeed.”

Mosimane himself has previously played down the rumours, stressing that any move to Chiefs would require a long-term vision, patience and significant investment, particularly in recruitment.

Despite the growing criticism, Chiefs remain competitive on the field. Amakhosi sit fourth in the Betway Premiership, just four points behind leaders Orlando Pirates and within touching distance of Mamelodi Sundowns, keeping their title ambitions alive for now.
