Chiefs Chairman Sends Powerful Message to Bafana in Morocco
Kaizer Chiefs chairman Dr Kaizer Motaung has delivered a warm message of encouragement to Bafana Bafana as they continue their Africa Cup of Nations journey in Morocco.
Coach Hugo Broos and his charges kicked off their Group B campaign with a gritty 2–1 win over Angola, and now turn their attention to a marquee showdown against Egypt, seven-time African champions, on Friday, 26 December (Family Day).
Speaking on behalf of Amakhosi and the wider South African football family, Motaung urged the national team on as they prepare for the high-stakes encounter.
“We send our best wishes to our national men’s team, Bafana Bafana, who are in Morocco representing Mzansi at the Africa Cup of Nations. We watched the opening match against Angola and now eagerly await the clash against Egypt on Family Day,” Motaung said via Chiefs’ media.
Drawing on Chiefs’ own continental experiences, the veteran administrator acknowledged the challenge ahead but backed Bafana’s resolve.
“As Kaizer Chiefs, we understand how demanding matches against teams from Angola and Egypt can be—we’ve recently faced Kabuscorp, Zamalek and Al Masry. Still, we believe in the strength and resilience of South Africans to rise to the occasion.”
Motaung also reflected proudly on a landmark year for the Soweto giants, highlighting milestones that capped a memorable 2025.
“It has been a special year for Kaizer Chiefs. Celebrating our 55th anniversary speaks to the legacy and endurance of this club. To crown it all, the senior team ended the long wait for silverware with the Nedbank Cup and secured a return to CAF competition in the Confederation Cup.”
He added that the club’s future is bright too, praising the reserves’ breakthrough campaign.
“Our reserve team made history by lifting the DStv Diski Challenge for the first time, and in record-breaking fashion. These achievements are gifts we hope brought smiles to our loyal supporters in 2025.”
With Bafana buoyed by early momentum and the nation firmly behind them, attention now shifts to a defining Family Day clash that could shape their AFCON destiny.
