Kaizer Chiefs Linked With Zimbabwean Attacker Ahead of Contract Expiry

Marumo Gallants’ Daniel Msendami Approaches Contract Expiry Amid Chiefs Links

In South African football, the storyline is a familiar one: a player shows flashes of promise and, almost instantly, speculation begins linking him to the Soweto heavyweights, Kaizer Chiefs and Orlando Pirates. For Marumo Gallants and Zimbabwe forward Daniel Msendami, those whispers have become a constant backdrop to a career shaped more by persistence than instant impact in the Betway Premiership.

Now 25 and in his second season in South Africa after arriving from Jwaneng Galaxy, Msendami is widely viewed as a player whose best football may still lie ahead. His numbers tell a story of steady graft rather than fireworks: three goals and three assists in 33 appearances last season, followed by one goal in 16 outings this campaign. Even so, the continued talk linking him with the country’s biggest clubs underlines the belief many have in his upside.

Crucially, the forward remains unfazed by the speculation. Speaking on the sidelines of an event in Morocco, Msendami struck a measured tone, choosing substance over hype. “Every player dreams of reaching the top and playing for the biggest teams,” he said. “For me, it’s about working harder than ever and trusting that, in time, the right opportunity will come to prove myself at a higher level.”

On the reported interest from Chiefs and Pirates, his response was equally grounded. “I heard about it and it sounded convincing, but I didn’t allow myself to get carried away,” he explained. “If it was truly serious, something concrete would have happened. So I stay focused on my journey. I’ll go where I’m wanted and valued, and I’ll keep pushing to score goals and stay consistent.”

With his Gallants contract nearing its end, uncertainty still surrounds his next step. “Nothing is clear yet,” Msendami admitted. But rather than frustration, there is quiet determination. The message has been consistent: keep working, keep improving.

Now, that resolve is paired with openness. Following his involvement at the Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco, where he featured for Zimbabwe against Egypt and South Africa, Msendami has effectively opened the door to a Soweto move. Speaking candidly after the Group B clash with Bafana Bafana, he did little to hide his ambition. “We play to get to the top level, to play for big teams,” he said. “I’ll keep pushing and working very hard, hoping that as time goes on, I can get an opportunity to move higher and showcase my talent.”

Aware of renewed interest from both Chiefs and Pirates, Msendami insists performances remain his priority—but the message to the PSL’s elite is clear. If the opportunity comes, he is ready to say yes.
