Msendami Opens Door to Soweto Move as Chiefs and Pirates Renew Interest
Zimbabwe international Daniel Msendami has sent a clear message to the Premier Soccer League’s elite, admitting he wants to test himself at the highest level as transfer interest from Soweto continues to grow.
Following his involvement at the Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco, the 25-year-old winger has once again found himself at the centre of speculation, with Kaizer Chiefs long linked and Orlando Pirates now also understood to have joined the race for his signature.
Msendami has been one of the standout performers at Marumo Gallants, consistently impressing despite the club’s struggles. His displays earned him a place in Zimbabwe’s AFCON squad, where he featured against Egypt and South Africa, using the continental stage to further enhance his reputation.
Speaking candidly after Zimbabwe’s Group B clash with Bafana Bafana, Msendami did little to hide his ambition.
“We play to get to the top level, to play for big teams,” he said. “I’ll keep pushing and working very hard, hoping that as time goes on, I can get an opportunity to move higher and showcase my talent.”
The winger confirmed he is aware of interest from both Chiefs and Pirates, though he insists his focus remains on performances rather than rumours.
“I heard the interest was concrete, but I didn’t put it in my mind. If it was meant to happen, it would have happened,” he added. “For now, I’ll keep pushing, scoring goals, and doing my best wherever I’m needed.”
Pirates’ interest is particularly significant, given that Msendami faced the Buccaneers in the Carling Knockout final earlier this season, a match the Soweto giants edged 1–0. That encounter is believed to have reinforced their admiration for the direct winger, who has the versatility to operate across the front line.
With his contract situation still unresolved and the January transfer window approaching, the coming weeks could prove decisive. While no formal offer has yet been tabled, sources indicate that both Soweto giants are monitoring developments closely.
For Msendami, the message is simple and unmistakable: he believes he is ready for the next step.
And as Chiefs and Pirates weigh up their options, Zimbabwe’s AFCON winger has made it clear — he wants to play for big teams, and he is prepared to fight for that chance.
