Orlando Pirates Linked With Prince Ndlovu, But No Bid Made

Highlanders FC have moved to play down renewed speculation linking one of their brightest young talents with a move to South Africa.

Chief executive officer Highlanders FC Denzel Mnkandla has dismissed reports claiming that Orlando Pirates are actively pursuing teenage star Prince Ndlovu.

Ndlovu, now 19, previously spent time training with the Buccaneers back in 2023 as a 16-year-old, but a permanent move failed to materialise. In recent weeks, talk of Pirates reviving their interest has resurfaced.

However, Mnkandla insists the club has received no official communication.

“To be honest, we have not received anything formal from Orlando Pirates regarding Prince Ndlovu,” Mnkandla told Herald Online.
“If any interest becomes official, the player’s wishes will naturally be taken into account. Until then, we regard this as speculation.”

It has also emerged that interest from Europe may have complicated a potential move two years ago. The Zimbabwe youth international, who represents the Zimbabwe U20, is reported to have had trials with Croatia’s Vukovar 1991 and Austrian Bundesliga outfit Sturm Graz.

Visa issues and the physical demands of European football are believed to have stalled those opportunities, leaving Ndlovu’s future the subject of ongoing interest rather than concrete movement—for now.
