From Saleng to Dithejane: Sundowns Go Big in the Transfer Market
Mamelodi Sundowns have moved swiftly to maintain momentum in the January transfer window, opening advanced talks for Puso Dithejane following their headline-grabbing capture of Monnapule Saleng.
Fresh from prising Saleng away from Orlando Pirates, the reigning champions are now intensifying efforts to land Dithejane from TS Galaxy as they look to reinforce their squad ahead of the decisive second half of the 2025/26 Betway Premiership season.
Sundowns are expected to be among the busiest clubs this window after a first half of the campaign that fell short of their lofty standards. Early exits from the MTN8 and the Carling Knockout have sharpened focus in Chloorkop, with management determined to mount a stronger push domestically while sustaining a serious challenge in the CAF Champions League.
Having already made a statement with Saleng’s arrival, attention has now shifted to Dithejane, one of the most exciting young attackers in the Premier Soccer League this season. The 21-year-old, who previously came through the youth ranks at Kaizer Chiefs, has been a standout performer for the Rockets, registering four goals and six assists in 15 appearances across all competitions.
Sources close to the negotiations indicate that Sundowns are currently leading the race for Dithejane’s signature, ahead of both Pirates and Chiefs.
“Puso is close to joining Mamelodi Sundowns,” a source revealed. “Talks with the player’s camp have gone well, and he is keen on the move. There are just a few details left to finalise.”
Versatile, direct and increasingly influential, Dithejane’s potential arrival would underline Sundowns’ aggressive approach to the window. Coupled with the Saleng coup, it signals a clear intent from Masandawana to reassert their dominance and attack the business end of the season with renewed depth and firepower.
