Talks Underway Between PSL Club and Tshegofatso Mabasa Over Possible Deal

Stellenbosch FC are intensifying their efforts to prise Tshegofatso Mabasa away from Orlando Pirates, with a move to the Cape Winelands now gathering momentum.

According to reports, the Stellies are keen on landing the prolific striker—nicknamed “The Sniper”—and discussions are centred around a loan deal until the end of the season.

The Winelands outfit are understood to be pushing for the transfer to be wrapped up within the week, allowing Mabasa enough time to settle and make an immediate impact as they battle to pull clear of the relegation zone.

The 29-year-old has found opportunities limited at Pirates this season under head coach Abdeslam Ouaddou, with Evidence Makgopa and Yanela Mbuthuma often preferred in attack. Mabasa has managed just 410 minutes of game time, though he has still chipped in with four goals.

If completed, the deal would represent Gavin Hunt’s first signing at Stellenbosch, following the club’s failure to secure Sinoxolo Kwayiba, who has since departed Pirates to rejoin Chippa United.
