Kaizer Chiefs Beat Mamelodi Sundowns 2-0 to Close Gap in Diski Challenge

Diski Challenge: Chiefs Outplay Sundowns in Statement Victory

Kaizer Chiefs Reserves delivered a composed and clinical display to beat Mamelodi Sundowns Reserves 2–0 in their DStv Diski Challenge Round 15 clash at the weekend, tightening the race behind the log leaders.

The defending DCC champions struck early through Naledi Hlongwane, who finished calmly inside 15 minutes after being released by a precise through ball, giving Chiefs control of the contest. Sundowns responded with periods of pressure, but Chiefs goalkeeper Takalani Mazhamba produced key saves to preserve the advantage before the break.

The second half saw Sundowns push numbers forward in search of an equaliser, including a strong penalty appeal that was waved away. Chiefs, however, showed maturity in game management and sealed the result late on when Kamogelo Malefo capitalised on a turnover near halfway, breaking through to score in the closing minutes and secure all three points.

The win lifts Kaizer Chiefs to 26 points in fifth place with a game in hand, though they remain several  points adrift of table-toppers Orlando Pirates. Mamelodi Sundowns stay second despite the setback.
