AmaZulu Strengthen Midfield With Zimbabwe Star Mason Mushore
AmaZulu have officially confirmed the signing of Zimbabwean midfielder Mason Mushore from Highlanders FC, securing the 24-year-old on a permanent deal ahead of the second half of the season.
Usuthu currently occupy fifth place in the Betway Premiership standings, having collected 24 points from 14 matches under the guidance of head coach Arthur Zwane—just four points adrift of log leaders Orlando Pirates.
The KwaZulu-Natal outfit have now added their first January reinforcement, with Mushore arriving from his homeland to bolster midfield options following a youthful rebuild during the off-season.
In a club statement, AmaZulu confirmed:
“AmaZulu Football Club is pleased to announce the signing of Harare-born defensive midfielder Mason Mushore (24), who joins Usuthu from Zimbabwean top-flight side Highlanders FC on a permanent deal.”
Club president Sandile Zungu welcomed the newcomer, expressing confidence in his ability to make an impact. “We welcome Mason to the AmaZulu family and are confident that he will add value and prove himself in our midfield,” Zungu said.
Mushore, known for his calmness in possession, strong ball control and positional discipline, is expected to provide much-needed depth and balance in central midfield, helping to fill the gap left by the departure of experienced campaigner Ben Motshwari.
The Zimbabwe international will also reunite with compatriot Thandolwenkosi Ngwenya, who joined AmaZulu earlier this season from FC Platinum, further strengthening the club’s regional connection.
Speaking after completing his move, Mushore shared his excitement: “I am grateful for the warm welcome I have already received. Mr Zungu personally welcomed me and told me that he believes in me and wants me to fight for the team.”
With AmaZulu firmly in the top-half and pushing for a strong finish, the arrival of Mushore adds experience and steel to Zwane’s evolving squad as Usuthu look to maintain their momentum in the league.
