AmaZulu FC have emerged victorious in the race to sign former Cape Town City midfielder Luyolo Slatsha, snapping up the highly rated 23-year-old on a free transfer.
According to Sinethemba Makonco, Usuthu moved swiftly after Slatsha became available, fending off strong interest from rivals including Kaizer Chiefs and Siwelele FC. Further reports from iDiski Times confirm that AmaZulu successfully completed the deal after the player’s release by the Citizens.
The KwaZulu-Natal outfit’s decisive approach proved key, with sources indicating that Slatsha was identified as a priority addition as soon as his contract situation became clear. His arrival adds further depth and energy to AmaZulu’s midfield options as they continue to reshape the squad.
Slatsha becomes the latest new face under head coach Arthur Zwane, who has placed a clear emphasis on building a youthful, competitive group. Usuthu have already secured the signature of Zimbabwean midfielder Mason Mushore, who had previously been close to joining TS Galaxy.
AmaZulu currently boast an average squad age of around 26 and sit fifth on the Betway Premiership table with 24 points from 14 matches — just four points adrift of leaders Orlando Pirates. Usuthu will resume their league campaign at home against TS Galaxy, buoyed by growing momentum both on and off the pitch.
