AmaZulu produced a stirring late comeback to secure a thrilling 3–2 victory over TS Galaxy in a Betway Premiership encounter at Moses Mabhida Stadium on Sunday.
The match started in a cautious but physical manner, with both sides committing several fouls before clear chances began to emerge after the half-hour mark. Usuthu were first to test the goal, as Riaan Hanamub (33’) and Mory Keita (34’) both forced saves in quick succession.
The intensity continued after the break, though opportunities from open play remained limited as the two sides cancelled each other out.
TS Galaxy broke the deadlock in the 70th minute through former AmaZulu striker Victor Letsoalo, who rose above the defence to head home from a Keita corner.
AmaZulu responded swiftly, with substitute Thandolwenkosi Ngwenya making an immediate impact by turning in Athini Maqokola’s pass from close range in the 78th minute.
Galaxy, however, regained the lead just three minutes later when Junior Zindonga finished off a move created by Kganyane Letsoeno.
Usuthu refused to fold and continued to press, eventually drawing level in the 89th minute as Mlondi Mbanjwa found the net following a clever assist from Ngwenya.
Deep into stoppage time, Ngwenya capped off a remarkable cameo appearance, completing his brace two minutes into added time after latching onto a dangerous cross from Maqokola to seal all three points for the KwaZulu-Natal side.
The dramatic win lifts AmaZulu up to fourth place on the Betway Premiership standings, while TS Galaxy remain sixth.
