South Africa vs Ghana: Local Stars Set for December Showdown
Black Galaxies head coach Kassim Mingle has announced a 20-man squad for next week’s international friendly against Bafana Bafana, a clash that doubles as South Africa’s final send-off match before jetting out to Morocco for the 2025 AFCON.
The match, scheduled for Tuesday, 16 December 2025, will also provide the Galaxies with a crucial tune-up ahead of their upcoming CHAN Qualifiers, giving Mingle and his technical team another chance to test combinations, evaluate individual form and fine-tune tactical approaches.
For South Africa, the fixture represents their last on-field rehearsal before departing for AFCON. Hugo Broos’ men will leave the country four days before the tournament begins, with group-stage fixtures against Angola (22 Dec), Egypt (26 Dec) and Zimbabwe (29 Dec).
The Ghana Football Association confirmed that the Black Galaxies squad is made up entirely of home-based players, with no senior Black Stars first-team regulars selected for this specific assignment.
