‘Chiefs Were Robbed’ – Ex-FIFA Ref Slams Decisions in TS Galaxy Draw
Former FIFA referee Victor Hlungwani has ruled that Kaizer Chiefs were robbed by poor officiating in their goalless draw against TS Galaxy at Mbombela Stadium.
Chiefs dominated the match but were held to a 0–0 result despite registering 24 shots, eight on target, all denied by Galaxy goalkeeper Ira Eliezer Tape, who earned Man of the Match honours. However, the focus after the game fell on two key refereeing decisions that went against Amakhosi.
Supporters and co-coach Khalil Ben Youssef felt Chiefs were unfairly treated, and Hlungwani agreed. Speaking on Metro FM’s SNAWA, he said Chiefs should have been awarded a penalty in the 13th minute when Dillan Solomons was kicked by Khulumani Ndamane inside the box.
Hlungwani also criticised the offside call that ruled out Flavio Da Silva’s goal minutes later. He explained that while two Chiefs players were in offside positions, Da Silva himself was clearly onside, making the decision to disallow the goal incorrect.
Chiefs are next in action on 20 January when they host Golden Arrows.
