Khuliso Mudau has poured cold water on speculation linking him with a surprise move to Orlando Pirates, insisting his focus remains firmly on Mamelodi Sundowns.
The dependable right-back has been the subject of intense transfer chatter in recent weeks, with reports suggesting Pirates were eyeing a January swoop for the Sundowns stalwart. Mudau, however, says the rumours caught him off guard.
A key figure in Sundowns’ recent dominance, Mudau has collected multiple domestic honours and was part of the side that lifted the African Football League in 2023. Now 30, he joined Masandawana in 2020 from Black Leopards and has gone on to make more than 150 appearances in all competitions, contributing seven goals and six assists.
His consistency at club level has translated seamlessly onto the international stage, where he has become one of Hugo Broos’ most trusted performers for Bafana Bafana. Mudau has featured at the last two AFCON tournaments and played a significant role as South Africa claimed bronze at the 2023 finals in Ivory Coast.
Speaking on Sundowns’ official social media channels, Mudau dismissed the Pirates links and reiterated his commitment to the Tshwane giants.
“I only heard about it when a friend sent me something saying I’m going to Orlando Pirates,” he said. “I don’t know anything about that. My focus is on Mamelodi Sundowns. I’m 100% here—my heart is here—and I still want to achieve more with this team.
“I want to help the team as much as I can. I don’t know where the talks are coming from, but I’m fully committed to Sundowns.”
