Bafana Bafana winger Mihlali Mayambela boosted his Africa Cup of Nations hopes with a clinical goal for Aris Limassol, helping the Cypriot giants cruise to a 4–0 victory over Enosis Neon Paralimniou.
Introduced at halftime, Mayambela made an instant impact and buried Limassol’s third goal in the 71st minute — his third direct contribution of the season. The result pushes Aris back to the top of the Cyprus First Division, overtaking defending champions Pafos FC.
The 29-year-old is part of Hugo Broos’ 55-man preliminary AFCON squad, and with the final list set to be trimmed to 26, this timely performance strengthens his late push for inclusion. Mayambela last featured for Bafana in March 2024 but played five matches in the previous AFCON.
A vital goal, perfect timing — and a big statement to the national selectors.
