Devin Titus Snubs Kaizer Chiefs, Orlando Pirates, Mamelodi Sundowns
Cape football has been handed a double boost this week, with Cape Town City FC strengthening their midfield through experience, while Stellenbosch FC secured the long-term future of one of their most influential attackers.
Cape Town City bring Miguel Timm home
Cape Town City have officially confirmed the signing of seasoned midfielder Miguel Timm, ending his brief six-month spell at Sekhukhune United.
The 33-year-old joined Babina Noko at the start of the season and featured in 14 matches across all competitions before making the move back to the Western Cape. City’s decision to bring in Timm is seen as a strategic one, adding calmness, leadership and tactical discipline to their engine room.
Timm’s arrival follows closely on the announcement of former TS Galaxy striker Dzenan Zajmovic, highlighting the Citizens’ intent to reinforce key areas as they reshape their squad for the next phase of the campaign.
Highly regarded for his ability to control the tempo of games, Timm brings with him valuable big-match experience, having enjoyed a trophy-laden spell earlier in his career with Orlando Pirates.
Stellenbosch secure Devin Titus’ future
Stellenbosch FC have landed a major boost after Devin Titus committed his future to the club, dealing a blow to Kaizer Chiefs, Orlando Pirates and Mamelodi Sundowns, who were all monitoring his situation.
The 24-year-old attacker also turned down lucrative approaches from North African giants, opting instead to continue his rise with the Cape Winelands outfit.
Titus’ decision underlines both his loyalty to Stellenbosch and the club’s growing stature as a destination capable of retaining elite talent despite interest from Africa’s biggest names.
Stellenbosch FC have moved decisively to lock down one of their most important assets, confirming that Devin Titus has signed a new long-term contract with the club.
The 24-year-old attacker, who has already racked up more than 150 appearances for the Cape Winelands outfit, committed his future earlier this week in what represents a major boost as the club enters a new era under newly appointed head coach Gavin Hunt.
A product of Stellenbosch’s development system, Titus made his professional debut against Black Leopards in 2021 at just 19 years old. Since then, his rise has been rapid and consistent, seeing him become the club’s third-most-capped player of all time.
“Stellenbosch FC is the club that gave me an opportunity to follow my dream of becoming a professional footballer,” Titus said. “I’m very happy to have signed a new contract here and grateful to everyone who has given me this platform. Hopefully, there is even more to come in the next few years.”
His influence has gone far beyond appearances. Titus was instrumental in Stellenbosch’s historic Carling Knockout triumph in 2023, where he was crowned the tournament’s MVP, before earning a spot in the Nedbank Cup Team of the Season the following year.
He has also played a key role in a golden period for the club, helping Stellies reach back-to-back MTN8 finals in 2024 and 2025, while qualifying for the CAF Confederation Cup in consecutive seasons. His progress has been further rewarded with a breakthrough into the Bafana Bafana setup, underlining his growing stature on the national stage.
Together, the two announcements underline a strong statement of intent from Western Cape clubs — blending experience with continuity as they look to remain competitive domestically and on the continental front.
