Peter Ndlovu Makes Sensational Switch from Sundowns to Scottland FC
Zimbabwean football icon Peter Ndlovu has completed a high-profile return home after leaving South African giants Mamelodi Sundowns to take up a senior management role at reigning Castle Lager Premier Soccer League champions Scottland FC.
The former Warriors captain has been appointed Team Manager at Scottland FC, marking a significant off-field reinforcement as the Harare-based club prepares to defend its league title and compete on multiple fronts this season.
While Scottland secretary-general Fortune Bgwoni initially declined to confirm the move when contacted from South Africa, sources close to the club indicated that discussions had been ongoing since early November last year. The appointment has now been formally concluded, with the club expected to make further official communications in due course.
Ndlovu strengthens Scottland’s leadership core
Ndlovu joins an already formidable leadership structure that includes club president Scott Sakupwanya, benefactor Wicknell Chivayo and head coach Norman Mapeza. His arrival is viewed as a strategic move aimed at enhancing professionalism, player welfare and operational efficiency within the squad.
Having previously served in a managerial capacity at Mamelodi Sundowns, Ndlovu brings invaluable experience from one of Africa’s most successful club environments. His role will focus on team operations and acting as a vital bridge between the technical bench and club management.
Champions on the rise
Scottland FC have rapidly established themselves as one of Zimbabwean football’s most ambitious and well-backed clubs. Their title-winning campaign last season was built on tactical discipline, squad depth and consistency, positioning them as the team to beat in the domestic game.
Warm messages pour in
Announcing the appointment on social media, Chivayo welcomed Ndlovu with a congratulatory message confirming a two-year contract. Former teammate Esrom Nyandoro also praised Ndlovu’s leadership qualities, describing him as a mentor whose wisdom and professionalism will benefit the players.
With his legendary status, administrative experience and deep understanding of the game, Peter Ndlovu’s return is widely seen as a major boost—not just for Scottland FC, but for Zimbabwean football as a whole.
