Kaizer Chiefs legend Tsepo Masilela believes Amakhosi have a realistic chance of prising Puso Dithejane away from TS Galaxy — but only if they show real intent with a convincing offer and a clear sporting plan.
Masilela weighed in on Dithejane’s future as the 21-year-old continues to shine as one of the Betway Premiership’s standout attackers. Before the ongoing AFCON break, the winger had produced four goals and six assists in 15 league appearances, underlining his rapid rise at the Rockets.
A product of the School of Excellence and later the Kaizer Chiefs academy, Dithejane’s stint at Naturena ended abruptly following the widely publicised ball-boy saga. However, the setback proved short-lived. In just two seasons at TS Galaxy, he has rebuilt his career emphatically, earning regular call-ups to Hugo Broos’ preliminary Bafana Bafana squads.
His growing influence was formally recognised when he was named Betway Premiership Player of the Month for November/December, an award that reflected his consistency and impact during Galaxy’s strong run into the festive break. Dithejane contributed a goal and two assists as the club climbed into the top-eight, edging Orlando Pirates winger Oswin Appollis and AmaZulu forward Athini Maqokolo to the accolade.
Dithejane attracts ‘big three’ interest
Unsurprisingly, interest in the Christiana-born winger is intensifying. Mamelodi Sundowns and Orlando Pirates are both believed to be monitoring his situation, while TS Galaxy chairman Tim Sukazi has confirmed that enquiries — including from abroad — have been received, although none have yet met the club’s valuation.
Speaking on the Soccer Beat podcast, Masilela praised Dithejane’s mentality and output, insisting Chiefs could succeed if they act decisively.
“I like the player. The numbers are good for a winger,” Masilela said. “Sometimes you get talented players who are stubborn in a good way — they believe in their ability.
“I don’t want to say it was a blessing that he wasn’t promoted at Chiefs. That incident came and went. Today, he is shining.
“If Chiefs really want him and put the right offer on the table, TS Galaxy are a selling team. The chairman doesn’t block players; if the offer is right, he will sell.
“If there is an opportunity abroad, I would take that first. His age allows him to try overseas, and if it doesn’t work out, he can always come back. I always encourage players to move abroad.”
