Zimbabwean giants Scottland FC have splashed out a significant sum to secure the services of Mamelodi Sundowns legend Peter Ndlovu, underlining their growing ambition ahead of continental competition.
Ndlovu, who previously served as team manager at Mamelodi Sundowns under Pitso Mosimane and later Rulani Mokwena, has joined Scottland FC as part of a strengthened technical structure. The club already boasts high-profile players such as former Kaizer Chiefs stars Khama Billiat and Knowledge Musona.
According to FARPost, Scottland FC paid between USD 200,000 and 300,000 (around R4 million) to land Ndlovu, who has signed a two-year contract as team manager. His appointment makes him the club’s second major technical addition, working closely with head coach Norman Mapeza, who was appointed in November 2025 after guiding the Harare-based side to their maiden Castle Lager Premier Soccer League title under the mentorship of Tonderai Ndiraya.
The move has generated optimism among supporters, particularly with Scottland FC preparing for their debut campaign in the CAF Champions League. Both Ndlovu and Mapeza are former Zimbabwe Warriors captains, adding further pedigree to the club’s technical leadership.
Scottland FC are bankrolled by businessman and MP Scott Sakupwanya, with strong commercial backing from sponsors including Sakunda Holdings and IMC Communications, fronted by Wicknell Chivayo. Chivayo confirmed Ndlovu’s appointment on social media, welcoming him to the club and congratulating him on his two-year deal.
With major sponsorships and high-end kit deals in place, Scottland FC’s rapid rise has earned them comparisons to Mamelodi Sundowns in Zimbabwean football circles. Chivayo’s admiration for Ndlovu has also been well documented, having gifted the former Warriors captain a 2024 BMW X6M Sport in late 2024 as recognition for his contribution to the game.
Former teammate Esrom Nyandoro has since backed the move, praising Ndlovu’s leadership and experience, and expressing confidence that he will add significant value to the club’s technical “think tank”.
Ndlovu is expected to return to South Africa this week as Scottland FC prepare for a two-week pre-season camp in South Africa and Namibia, with plans to line up friendlies against Betway Premiership opposition. Domestically, the club will open the new season against Dynamos in the Castle Challenge Cup, while also reshaping the squad by releasing more than 15 players as they gear up for a demanding 2026 campaign.
