Frustration for Amakhosi as Another Goal Ruled Out in Galaxy Stalemate
Kaizer Chiefs co-coach Khalil Ben Youssef has voiced strong frustration after his side had a goal controversially ruled out in their goalless draw against TS Galaxy on Sunday — their second consecutive 0–0 result to close the year.
The Soweto giants appeared to have taken the lead in the 19th minute when Flavio Da Silva rifled home from a George Matlou pass, only for the assistant referee’s flag to cut celebrations short. Television replays suggested Da Silva had in fact timed his run perfectly.
Chiefs, who created a flurry of chances throughout the match, finish 2025 in fourth place on the Betway Premiership table after back-to-back stalemates.
Speaking to SuperSport TV after the final whistle, Youssef did not hide his disappointment.
“I think our fans enjoyed the game, but we were unlucky not to win,” he said.
“We scored a goal — in my opinion a clear goal — and we had a penalty situation that was not given. If you don’t score, you don’t win. But today we created more than 12 or 13 opportunities, 36 shots on target. We deserved to win this game.”
Youssef added that the upcoming mid-season break would be used to sharpen the team’s finishing and address recurring issues.
“I don’t want to repeat myself saying we’re unlucky every time. Now we have this break to correct our mistakes and continue to work. I’m proud of the players — the starters and those from the bench. They gave a good performance today.”
Chiefs return in 2026 needing greater efficiency in front of goal after consecutive matches in which their dominance yielded no reward.
