Zim Midfielder Mason Mushore Officially Joins SA PSL Club

Zimbabwe international midfielder Mason Mushore has officially completed his move to AmaZulu FC, with the transfer set to take effect on 1 January 2026.

The 23-year-old arrives from Highlanders FC, who confirmed that an agreement had been reached for his permanent transfer to the Durban-based Betway Premiership outfit.

In a statement, Bosso paid tribute to the midfielder’s impact during his time at the club:
“We are immensely grateful to Mason for his commitment, passion, and outstanding contributions. Thank you for the memories, and we wish you the very best in this exciting new chapter of your career.”

Reuniting with a Familiar Face

At AmaZulu, Mushore will link up with fellow Zimbabwean Thandolwenkosi Ngwenya, who joined Usuthu last year after his spell with FC Platinum. Ngwenya has already made a strong impression in Durban, scoring four goals in 12 league appearances this season.

What AmaZulu Are Getting

Mushore’s former Highlanders coach Pieter de Jongh has described the midfielder as highly versatile, capable of operating across the middle of the park.

“He can play as a 6, 8 or 10, and even as a central defender if needed. His best position is midfield. Technically and tactically, there’s no debate,” said De Jongh.

The Dutch tactician did, however, stress that consistency, discipline and focus will be key as Mushore adapts to the demands and distractions of South African top-flight football.

A Boost for Arthur Zwane’s Ambitions

AmaZulu head coach Arthur Zwane continues to reshape his squad ahead of the second half of the season, with Mushore becoming another important addition as Usuthu push for a strong league finish.

The Durban side ended 2025 fifth on the PSL table with 24 points from 14 matches — level with Kaizer Chiefs and just four points behind log leaders Orlando Pirates, who have games in hand.

Looking Ahead

Mushore was one of Highlanders’ standout performers last season, notably scoring a crucial free-kick that helped Bosso progress in the Chibuku Super Cup. He now steps onto a bigger stage, with expectations high that his energy, technique and versatility will translate to the Betway Premiership.

For AmaZulu, his arrival further strengthens their midfield options as they target another top-eight finish — and possibly more — in the second half of the campaign.
